Georgian Townhouse, Edinburgh

This very attractive little Georgian terraced house in central Edinburgh was both a challenge and a joy to work on.

The challenge lay in the fact that it had suffered terribly from historic subsidence and as a consequence the whole house was on a slant; the joy was that it was a beautiful house with very attractive period features and the clients were an absolute pleasure to work for.

The house underwent a complete refurbishment which included levelling both floors, opening up the kitchen and dining area, installing a beautiful Sculleries of Stockbridge Kitchen, reconfiguring the bathrooms including dividing up the family bathroom to create one smaller bathroom and a large wardrobe accessible from the master bedroom along with many other components which were tricky to manage and coordinate.

With regards to the decor, we worked in close collaboration with our clients developing and adapting their brief over time. We originally started with a very neutral scheme as our clients were concerned about using colour in their first home together. Over time, and as our working relationship developed, we slowly built in some wonderful splashes of bold colour to give us this amazing final result.
